Two Arkansas Teachers Chosen as National Awardees for Presidential Teaching Award

On July 1, 2015, the White House announced the winners of the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. Amanda Jones, a science teacher at Poyen High School in Poyen, Arkansas, and Brian Leonard, a mathematics teacher at Lake Hamilton High School in Pearcy, Arkansas, are recipients of the 2013 Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching.

ADE Commissioner Johnny Key is pleased to announce Kendra Clay as the new general counsel. She replaces Jeremy Lasiter, who was selected for a position with the Bryant School District. Clay will assume her new role July 1.

Granderson Named Interim Director of Facilities and Transportation Division

The Commission for Arkansas Public School Academic Facilities and Transportation today selected Terry Granderson as the interim director of the Arkansas Division of Public School Academic Facilities and Transportation. He replaces Dr. Charles Stein, who retired June 19. Granderson will begin his new role immediately.

Arkansas State Council for the Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children Teleconference Meeting
