HRS in Arkansas

Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) team members are very excited about the next step in our journey to transform education in Arkansas. In the Arkansas Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) Plan, we established a theory of action whereby ADE will support all districts in using a continuous cycle of inquiry to provide each student with an educational experience that is rigorous, challenging and rewarding.

Over the past several months, we have asked ourselves, “What is an evidence-based approach to support all districts with their local cycles of inquiry?” Additionally, it was critical that this approach could be tailored to the needs of individual districts and not be a “one-size-fits-all” solution.

We believe we have found the answer, and we kicked off 2019 by sharing some important resources with educators that set the foundation for our future collaborative work toward High Reliability School (HRS). For more information about HRS, go to https://www.marzanoresearch.com/hrs/high-reliability-schools

This effort included the following:

Each superintendent and principal received a copy of two books:  "A Handbook for High Reliability Schools" and "Leading a High Reliability School".

Each school was provided access to a survey to measure safety and collaborative culture. The survey link and results will be accessed through the Digital Sandbox.
