Standards & Systems Support

About the Standards & Systems Support Unit

The Standards & Systems Support Unit is a merger of the former School Improvement and Standards for Accreditation units in preparation for the 2018-2019 school year. The specialists in this unit can assist you with:

  • standards for accreditation
  • general support to districts
  • school-level improvement plans
  • district plans of support
  • evidence-based practices

The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) Rules Governing the Standards for Accreditation of Arkansas Public Schools and School Districts (2018) set the requirements for every public school in the state. The ADE has the responsibility of monitoring to ensure that all public schools comply with the Standards for Accreditation. The Standards & Systems Support Unit will work with districts and schools to ensure that the educational foundation is established and maintained through adherence to the Standards for Accreditation. The ADE will communicate monthly through the Standards for Accreditation (SFA) website. The 2018-2019 Standards for Accreditation Monitoring Tool was developed to provide a comprehensive review of the standards monitoring process and should be used to retain records as appropriate.

According to the Arkansas Educational Support and Accountability Act (Act 930 of 2017) and the ADE Rules Governing the Arkansas Educational Support and Accountability Act (2018), the Department shall provide differentiated levels of support to all Arkansas public school districts. The Standards & Systems Support Unit will work with districts to provide supports and services based on individual needs identified through state and federal accountability.
