The Rural Education Achievement Program (REAP) is designed to assist rural school districts in using federal resources to improve the quality of instruction and student academic achievement. It consists of two separate programs, the Small Rural School Achievement (SRSA) program and the Rural and Low-Income Schools (RLIS) program that provides grant funds to serve children from low-income families.
* Change as a result of Flexibility - The Arkansas Department of Education received a waiver of the requirements in ESEA section 6213(b) and 6224(e) that limit participation in, and use of funds under the Small, Rural School Achievement (SRSA) and Rural and Low-Income School (RLIS) programs based on whether an LEA has made AYP and is complying with the requirements in ESEA section 1116. This flexibility permits an LEA that receives Small, Rural School Achievement Program or Rural and Low-Income School Program funds to use those funds for any purpose authorized under the applicable program regardless of the LEA’s AYP status.
