The following professional development sessions have been scheduled for 2019:

Assigning to Assessing in the Art Room 

Presenter:  Debi West
Sponsor: Arkansas Department of Education, Arkansas Art Educators Association
Audience: Grades K-12 Visual Art Educators
PD hours: 6 hours
Description:  Debi West is a longtime art educator and advocate and is currently an author for The Art of Ed and a consultant working with teachers to implement project-based learning. Ms. West is from Georgia: https://theartofeducation.edu/author/debiwesttheartofed-com/. This CPR workshop (commitment, passion, and reflection) will include curriculum designing for K-12, including activities called Elements of Art Ice Cream Cone and Visualizing Vocabulary. It will also include a summative assessment bookmaking lesson and visual journaling. Come learn about everything from assigning to assessing! This workshop will be livestreamed to educational service cooperatives.

Kari Gilbertson: Choral Music

Audience: Grades 5-8 Music Educators

Description: Kari Gilbertson is an active conductor, adjudicator, clinician, and consultant in choral music education. She is one of five Lead Authors of the choral textbook Voices in Concert and has served as President of the Texas Choral Directors Association. Her workshop will allow attendees to be engaged in a six-hour, hands-on workshop, participating in a number of creative music-making activities.. This workshop will be livestreamed to educational service co-operatives

‘A Day of Play’ for Elementary Music Educators

Description: Cristi Cary Miller is a dynamic presenter and member of the Oklahoma Music Educators Hall of Fame and former President of the Oklahoma Music Educators Association. Her workshop “A Day of Play” will allow attendees to be engaged in a six-hour, hands-on workshop, participating in a number of creative music-making activities. All of the sessions will include different assessment strategies that can be used in evaluating student progress. Formative, observational, performance-based, peer and personal assessment strategy tips will help participants understand how to keep track of student learning and progress. This workshop will be livestreamed to educational service co-operatives
