The Teacher Excellence and Support System is the system by which all Arkansas educators are evaluated. Classroom teachers of record, as well as, contributing professionals working in specialty areas will receive professional practice ratings based on performance according to the appropriate TESS rubric. Specialty evaluation forms have been developed for Gifted Coordinators, Instructional Specialists, Library Media Specialists, School Counselors, School Psychologists, and Speech Language Pathologists.
Rubrics and additional evaluation forms are specifically designed to evaluate educators who work in these positions. The rubrics provide components for implementation. Also they outline the criteria for observations and levels of performance on which each educator’s evaluation will be based. The evaluation forms for each of these rubrics will be accessed through BloomBoard, Arkansas’ observation evaluation data system. All Arkansas educators and administrators utilize BloomBoard to conduct and participate in the evaluation process.
All specialty evaluation forms are included in the TESS & LEADS Handbook (new) posted above, and may be accessed quickly by clicking on the title of the document in the Table of Contents. A quick reference summary of each rubric for these specialty areas follows.
