Educator Licensure Unit

The Office of Educator Licensure is responsible for the licensure of all Arkansas public school educators.  The office provides technical assistance to educators, school districts, and educator preparation programs about:

  • Licensing in Arkansas for the first time (either in-state, through reciprocity with another state, or out-of-country);
  • Renewing an Arkansas educator license;
  • Adding areas of licensure to a current educator license; or
  • Obtaining background checks required for licensure.

For information on the various levels and areas of licensure, please go to Educator Licensure Levels and Areas.

The Arkansas Educator Licensure System (AELS) Login Site allows licensed educators to update their contact information, view their license and license activity, and start some of the recently added license applications online.
