PLSB Training for School Districts & Educator Preparation Programs 

The Professional Licensure Standards Board (PLSB) will provide the following training on the Code of Ethics for Arkansas Educators:

  • (K-12) Code of Ethics Training:  This training will go through the process of filling out an allegation form, explaining what the investigative process entails, discussion of the eight (8) standards along with case examples, use of Social Media (pros/cons), and statistical information gathered from investigations. (Approximately 2 hours in length)
  • Training at Educator Preparation Programs:  This training is geared for those pre-service teachers who are currently or will be conducting their student teaching at an assigned school district.  This training gives the pre-service teacher a foundational knowledge of the Code of Ethics for Arkansas Educators prior to their official employment.  This training will address the process of filling out an allegation form, explaining what the investigative process entails, discussion of the eight (8) standards along with case examples, use of Social Media (pros/cons), overview of the Rules Governing the Code of Ethics for Arkansas Educators, and statistical information gathered from investigations. (Approximately 2 and 3 hours in length)

Individual Licensure Candidates Training (Alternative Educator Preparation)

Effective August 1, 2018, an educator prepared through an alternative educator preparation program must complete approved ethics training BEFORE a provisional license is issued to the educator.  The training consists of two separate components and must be approved by the Professional Licensure Standards Board.

Part I:  Professional Ethics -  Choose one of the following approved trainings:
  1. a) ADE approved training from your preparation program
  2. b) The ProEthica® Program, at https://www.ets.org/proethica.  You will be required to be enrolled either by your educator preparation program or the ADE.  Follow the instructions on the ETS website for registration and payment.
  3. c) (Future programs will be added as they are approved)
 
Part II:  Arkansas Code of Ethics
    a) Choose one of the following approved trainings:
  1. PLSB facilitated training as described above
  2. Code of Ethics for Arkansas Educators training on ArkansasIDEAS: Professional Licensure Standards Board (PLSB) - The Code of Ethics Training Video (2017), Course No. ERC18064
    b) Read the Rules Governing the Code of Ethics for Arkansas Educators
 
After completing the Part I and Part II training and reading the rules, download, complete, and submit the Ethics Training Verification Form to your educator preparation program licensure officer for submission to the ADE. PPTL and ABCTE candidates will submit the Ethics Training Verification Form directly to the ADE either: 
  1. 1 By email at:  ade.educatorlicensure@arkansas.gov
  2. 2 OR upload the form on the online licensure application at https://adeaels.arkansas.gov/AelsWeb/Account/TeacherLogin.aspx
